2007 Sledgehammer Cabernet Sauvignon

2007 Sledgehammer Cabernet Sauvignon

"Complex aromas of black cherry and notes of cinnamon and nutmeg lead to powerful flavors of plum and dark berry fruit."

Looking at the name, Sledgehammer, and the marketing, "Big, Bold..., we anticipated a big, fat, overripe wine. Not so. The 2007 Sledgehammer Cabernet Sauvignon is a fresh and well structured wine with rich, ripe, layered cherry/berry and other complementary flavors. Quite quaffable and delicious, and an excellent value at $14.99.

HOOK & LADDER 2009 Sauvignon Blanc

HOOK & LADDER 2009 Sauvignon Blanc, Estate Bottled, Russian River Valley

"Half of this Sauvignon Blanc was cold fermented slowly in a stainless steel tank; the other half was fermented in our 5 best neutral French oak barrels for added complexity and softer mouth feel. The two halves were combined and then hand-bottled at our winery. This wine has good acidity and a lengthy finish that can be enjoyed on its own or would pair well with most seafood and poultry dishes or oysters on the half shell. "

Hahn Estates Pinot Noir Monterey 2007

"This wine begins with zesty aromas of white and black pepper. Silky and dynamic, new flavors and textures unfold with time ... Deep yet bright, with a lovely ruby hue, the Hahn Estates 2007 Monterey Pinot Noir begins with zesty aromas of white and black pepper. Silky and dynamic, new flavors and textures unfold with time. This is a balanced, extremely versatile and satisfying wine. Tangy spiced fruit, backed by cool-climate acidity at the front of the palate, carries the rich mouthfeel of this wine, well into the finish. Serve with pecan-crusted mahi-mahi or to bring out the spice, try with Pad Thai. "
