The Winerys Vinum Africa Chenin Blanc 2005 will be released on the South African market in July, retailing at R50. Alex Dale, founder of this Stellenbosch producer, believes the quality of this vintage surpasses the 2004 which was highly rated internationally. Dale says that each year The Winery succeeds in building a higher profile internationally for premium South African Chenin Blanc.

Ken Forrester (big Chenin Blanc producer) was apparently forced to export in bulk and bottle in Europe were Stelvin (screw-cap) closures are far cheaper due to the fact that no bottles were available in SA by Consol and that it was an urgent order for a UK retailer that only accepts wines under Stelvin closures.
