Vines on the Marycrest 2007 My Generation
The Award-Winning Wine:
Vines on the Marycrest 2007 My Generation, Paso Robles
Reason for Reviewing:
Vines on the Marycrest 2007 My Generation earned a top-honor Gold-Medal from 2011 Dallas International Wine Competition
Noteworthy:
Vines on the Marycrest wines are hand-crafted, produced in small lots, and named after popular songs.
Winery Notes:
"We don’t know if it is the old vines, or Victor’s gift, but this wine is a winner. Fruit forward with firm structure. Deep notes of coffee and tobacco."
AlaWine Notes:
Vines on the Marycrest 2007 My Generation shows as a bright garnet color in glass. Ripe bramble berry, briar, on the nose, with a pleasant floral highlight. Plenty of rich dark berry and cherry fruit in a smooth opening. Nice layers through a dry, lightly spicy and leather finish.
Bottom Line:
Vines on the Marycrest 2007 My Generation is a blend of 58% Zinfandel, 21% Syrah, 14% Mourvedre, 7% Petite Sirah. It provides rich fruit flavors and interesting complexities, while remaining eminently quaffable. A good value at a suggested retail price of $26. Overall composite score: 95 points.
