Györgykovács Imre Somló Olaszrizling 2003
Initially a bit muted, with musky fruits and minerals. And then ka-pow, it blossomed: pears and spices. The body of the wine sort of reminded me of a viognier, but there was nothing cloying or alcoholic about it.

Domaine Rousseau Ruchottes-Chambertin “Clos des Ruchottes” 2000
I can resist anything but temptation, or so said Oscar Wilde. For me, Rousseau is temptation. Classy nose: red cherries intertwined with minerals and earthy truffles; oozes a tremendous amount of pinosity.

Wendouree Shiraz Mataro 2003
Ah Wendouree, so we meet again? I’m told that when Adair shimmied this bottle from its protective cardboard box, my face expressed clearly a person in extreme panic. It was, after all, just over 12 months since I drank 10 bottles of Wendouree in 3 weeks

Primo Estate “Il Briccone” Shiraz Sangiovese 2003
A blend of Shiraz and Sangiovese, with smaller amounts of Nebbiolo and Cabernet. Principally marketed as a bistro wine I believe, and certainly on warmish evenings, lighter wines like this are the order of the day.

Scorpo Pinot Noir 2003
Dark colour. Spicy and smoky with dark plum/cherry fruit and a good dose of undergrowth. Not rich and fruity - but rather a dry savoury style of wine where complexity and style are more important.
